Fuel the future of epilepsy care for kids.
Zeroing in on a key need, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals will use funds received from this giveaway—with a grant from CAF America—to help build out and enhance a state-of-the-art Epilepsy Monitoring Unit at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. The specialized unit is part of the hospital’s already-established Leon Pediatric Neuroscience Center of Excellence, which is devoted to providing life-changing care to kids of all ages for a broad range of neurological disorders, including epilepsy.
The Epilepsy Monitoring Unit will be equipped with the most advanced technology available, providing doctors with the tools they need to perform thorough evaluations and precise diagnostics, which are especially crucial in helping patients with hard-to-manage seizure disorders. Because screenings often last several days, the new unit will also include space for a parent to stay with their child throughout the process, keeping kids comfortable and caregivers plugged in.
Currently, Orlando Health Arnold Palmer cares for more than 2,000 children with epilepsy each year. With the new unit, that number is expected to double, if not triple, in the coming years.
